Feedmaster has received an official authorisation letter from the Ministry of health to conduct COVID-19 testing.
The testing will be conducted by Namib Laboratories which is an entity of Feedmaster. This laboratory was established in 2018 and currently conducts all microbiological, serological, and PCR related diagnostic tests for the Namib Mills Group of companies.
One of the rooms in the laboratory was converted into a fully functional PCR laboratory to assist the ministry with COVID-19 testing. The facility will be adept to analyse at least 94 tests per day with a 24-hour turnaround time for results. The lab which is open daily on weekdays as from 07:30 and closes at 16:30 is able to analyse 94 tests per day and the results are provided online.
According to Feedmaster, they said; while part of the reason for this addition to Namib Laboratories, is to ensure that the COVID-19 risk to our staff, business, and sister companies are managed, it is also a great honour for us to assist the ministry in its current need for testing facilities during the global pandemic.
Ms. Mary Mataranyika from the Ministry of Health and Dr. Susanne Beard from the CDC assisted the firm with the correct measures and procedures to get the lab up to standard and to generate accurate results.
Feedmaster takes pride in the fact that they have a state of the art equipment and well-trained staff. By the end of November, they will also be conducting their SADCAS audit which according to them will be a huge accomplishment. Feedmaster believes that they can be of great help, to all institutions especially the veterinary sector of the country.
